When Jake was a 7th grader he came to me and said he was going to audition for the school musical. I smiled and gave encouragement, but my internal voice was screaming, "Yikes!" Jake had always been quiet and very sensitive, and, although he played several instruments, he never really sang. Imagine my surprise when he told me he had gotten a part with a short solo! He was wonderful!
Well, that musical was the beginning of many plays and musicals over the last five years, none of which were "small" roles. He's a natural I guess.
Jake is in Rep Theater and Chambers (Choir), both of which he had to audition for, and he is in Fifth Wall, a short-form improv group of about 15 BVHS students. Last night they did a show at a local coffee house and I took a bunch of pics. They're really funny and you can see by all the crazy facial expressions that they get into it and really have a lot of fun!
I don't know if Jake will continue to pursue acting after high school, and I guess I'll be okay with it if he doesn't...but I'm going to enjoy every minute of it while I can!!!
