Sunday Snapshot - {Relay For Life}

A few months back, Jake told me his Relay For Life team needed a chaperone.  "If we don't have a chaperone, we can't participate!" I reluctantly agreed.

Let me explain Relay For Life...the kids put together teams, collect donations, and their challenge is to stay awake ALL night in the gym and have at least one member from their team walking all night long.  Opening Ceremony is at 7:30pm and Closing Ceremony is at 6:15am.

The night started off with many excited, energetic and AWAKE kids.
Team FifthWall - Captain: Jake Miller
The kids started walking

and as they walked they had to be carry their "Spirit Stick" - which, for Fifth Wall (Jake's improv troupe) was this guy.

I saw most of Sami's friends there.  Sami wasn't there because she failed to collect the necessary donations (that's another story).  At the beginning of the night they were all smiles and excitement.

At 12:45am, Fifth Wall performed for all the kids.
Make 'em laugh!
It was hilarious, although Alex gave me quite a scare when he almost landed on his head!

It makes me sad to think that these two won't be performing together much longer.

And then, as they finished up, Jake pulled out flowers and surprised Ali with an invitation to the prom.

She was a little embarassed with everyone looking at her.

But happily said yes!

At about 2:30 everyone started to wind down...including me :)

Kids were sleeping everywhere.

And at the end of the night, at 6:15, they announced that the three high schools that participated had raised almost $100,000!

A long night, but with raising that much money for cancer, and spending the time with my Jake, who turned 18 that night...it was well worth it!

I'm a bit late with my Sunday Snapshot, but you can still head over to Ni Hao Ya'll and see more great photos!

Awesome! You are such a great mom for participating and being able to spend time with Jake!
