Tonight I decided to make a Top Round Roast. I did everything I was supposed to do, braised, seasoned, etc., then my wonderful husband came home after being gone all week. It was 4:30 and I had just put the roast in the oven and B said he needed to pick something up at Costco. So, since things are always a little bit crazy here, I asked Jake to keep an eye on the roast while B and I dropped Sam off at a friends, picked Phoebe up from dance class, and then made our "quick" run to Costco. We got back home at 6:30 and I immediately took the roast out, steamed some edamame, and cut tomatoes for a tomato, mozzarella and pesto dish. Needless to say, the roast, while still pretty good, was a tad overcooked :-(
Sooooo, I blamed B for needing to go to Costco and for being so irresistible that I HAD to go with him! My sweet children still praised my cooking! Jake and Zach thought the roast was good and Phoebe thought the edamame was the best! (I worked really hard to steam that...not!)
Tomorrow is Friday and I may try to get my honey to take me out?? Maybe a late lunch before we meet with Phoebe's teachers for her conference.
Not much new house news, although they did patch and re-stucco the hole in the side of the house at P's room that the firefighters made to vent out the fire. I think they'll get the inspector out next week to check the electrical and then they'll start putting up drywall!
Stay tuned for Saturday...B and I are attending a "Murder-Mystery Birthday Party" for a friend who is turning 50. We have been assigned characters from the 60's! I am "Marilyn Ann" and it's a play on the character, Maryann, from Gilligan's Island, and B is "Von Jennon" a play on John Lennon. Yikes! We need to find B some bell-bottoms and a WIG!

The party sounds like fun! As someone who is fast approaching 50, the mystery is where did the years go? Your dinner sounds yummy! I really miss you guys.
